I’m a queer parent living in a small city. I’ve just started back to school after twenty years away from academia. I’m working on a graduate degree in social work at Wilfrid Laurier University. I’ve been working in sexual health and advocacy for a very long time, most recently at an HIV/AIDS service organization here in Ontario.
I just turned 42 and I have a new romantic partner. We are not co-parenting so I continue to identify myself as a single parent but not single. Complicated yes.
My mission is to raise my child amongst nature and answer every question as honestly as I can. Although some days the questions just don’t stop. “Why are there soldiers?”, is my current favourite (or not favourite depending on my mood).
I have great friends and a great community but parenting is hard. Especially when you are doing it mostly on your own. I started this blog to write down my thoughts, share with others, and create more spaces for supporting each other.
